Forums are Web based applications. Creating a forum for discussion is a simple and practical way of sharing information and ideas. A forum has 2 views which include the visitor view and the Administrator view.

1. The visitor view: Before entering the forum, he has to register himself in the forum and take permission from the Administrator to post his comments in the forum. Once the Administrator has given permission to the user to enter the forum, he can access the forum i.e. he can select any topic of discussion and post his views about that topic. He can even use the services of that forum.
2. Administrator view: Where the Administrator selects the topics of discussion. He selects which user has to be allowed to access the forum and which comments of the users have to be kept available to all the users and which are to be discarded.

BLOGS

Blogs are Web 2.0 Applications. Here only the Administrator can select and post the title and an article on the topic. Here the users have the facility to post their views about the article posted by the Administrator. Any user can be given permissions to read, write, moderate or fully customize any number of blogs. The user posts are automatically arranged by date and category into a theme that the user chooses.

Readers of the blog can then leave comments which will appear below the posts. They can also browse through the archives and use advanced search capabilities. The right to include the users view in the article is only with the Administrator.

Here the user can post his views through a Web feed format. Web feed format can be a RSS feed format or an ATOM feed format.

RSS and ATOM are special format to update contents of a Blog, news headlines and podcasts in a standardized format. They make it possible for people to keep up with web sites in an automated manner that can be piped into special programs or filtered displays.
Some of the features of blogs are:

1. Blogs gives the facility to including robots, RSS readers and browser hits broken down by referrers, searches, direct accesses, self-referred, etc. Also includes search keywords, user logins and more.
2. Different blogs can be sub-divided into categories and sub-categories to organize posts by subject or theme. Posts can be assigned multiple categories, but even more: if you wish posts can be cross-posted among multiple blogs at once.
